Alliance for Integrated Development (AID), is a non-governmental, multi-mandated organization, working to integrate the humanitarian, development and peace efforts for sustainable impact.
AID was established by a team of highly motivated youth and dedicated individuals in March 2003, subsequently registering with the Directorate of Social Welfare, KP. It provided services for the masses of the country according to its capacity and resources throughout the earthquake of 2005 and the Floods of 2010 by providing food, non-food Items and emergency health services, while simultaneously delivering on its mandate. Later on, the organization was registered under section 20 of the Societies Registration Act, 1860, to expand its scope and outreach to coherently facilitate synergies between humanitarian assistance, development cooperation, and peace-building interventions to achieve results greater than the sum of their separate interventions. AID specifically attempts to work together in a multi-pronged approach to more effectively meet peoples’ needs, mitigate risks and vulnerabilities, and move towards sustainable peace.
The emphasis on a more coherent approach offers many opportunities. Meeting immediate needs at the same time as ensuring longer-term investment addressing the systemic causes of conflict and vulnerability – such as poverty, inequality and the lack of functioning accountability systems – has a better chance of reducing the impact of cyclical or recurrent shocks and stresses, and supporting the peace that is essential for development to be sustainable.
Currently, the organization is working for sustainable development through advocacy, education, capacity building, social mobilization, networking and linkages with participatory approach by involving the community people. The primary focus of AID is on the problems of the underpriileged in their struggle to obtain a life of justice and dignity. Gender equity, Resource management, and livelihood security are our primary areas of concern.
AID strongly believes in involvement of local people, local CSOs, CBOs, CCBs in the form of coordination, networking and institutional development. To achieve this objective, AID has carried out dialogues with the local CSOs to develop strong linkages and to strengthen them for the social services delivery and ensure community participation, cost effectiveness and sustainability in developmental activities.
AID works with the Government Departments, National & International Donors/Agencies for the socio-economic development, and improving health and education services/facilities in the region. The organization has developed a good image and reputation in the community, Government and good working relationship with line departments and institutional stakeholders.
